CBM-Command v2.0 Final Release

March 17th, 2011 No comments

CBM-Command is a disk manager for the Commodore 64 / Commodore 128 / Commodore VIC20 and Commodore C16 computers. It is written like Norton Commander or Midnight Commander, but is much simpler due to the target platforms. Both the C128/C64/VIC20/C16 have their own native version of the application.

Release Notes – Version 2.0 – 2011-03-17 – Final Release

This is the final release of CBM-Command Version 2.0. This version is intended to replace all prior versions you may have downloaded. Please see release notes for prior versions to get comprehensive list of changes.

New Features:

  • (C64) Added double-buffering when displaying the directory in a panel. This eliminates the flickering that users were experiencing when scrolling through long directories.

Changes:

  • (All Machines) Changed the algorithm for displaying the directory in a panel. This greatly speeds up the scrolling of long directories, especially on the C128.

Known Issues:

  • None at this time.

Exomizer v2.0 released

February 2nd, 2011 No comments

Exomizer is a program that compresses files in a way that tries to be as efficient as possible but still allows them to be decompressed in environments where CPU speed and RAM are limited. For some popular 8-bit computers using 6502 compatible CPUs it can also generate executable files that decompress themselves in memory when run.

  • 2011-01-22: Exomizer v2.0 released

Changes since the 2.0 beta 7 release:

  • Fixed a bug in sfx decruncher setup where data was copied unnecessary.
  • Added the i_line_number symbol to be able to change the default line number of the basic line of the sfx decruncher.
  • Added various improvements and documentation of the desfx command.

A complete changelog is included in the zip file.

CBM-Command v2.0 Release Candidate

January 24th, 2011 No comments

CBM-Command is a disk manager for the Commodore 64 / Commodore 128 / Commodore VIC20 and Commodore C16 computers. It is written like Norton Commander or Midnight Commander, but is much simpler due to the target platforms. Both the C128/C64/VIC20/C16 have their own native version of the application.

Release Notes – Version 2.0 Release Candidate – 2011-01-14

New Features:

  • Whole Disk Copying – Hotkey = “O” – This will copy a whole disk from one like drive to another like drive (ie. 1541 to 1541, 1571 to 1571) and also will copy a 1541 to a 1571.

Changes:

  • Bug fixes

Known Issues:

  • Deleting batches of files with more than 30 files does not work as expected as only the first 30 files are deleted. This is because of the way that deleting files alters the disk directory which prevents looping over the whole directory and selectively deleting files. Unfortunately I see no way around this as it’s impossible to cache the names of all the files to delete without some kind of temporary storage. This issue will not stop the release of Version 2.0.

CBM-Command v2.0 Beta 2

January 1st, 2011 No comments

CBM-Command is a disk manager for the Commodore 64 / Commodore 128 / Commodore VIC20 and Commodore C16 computers. It is written like Norton Commander or Midnight Commander, but is much simpler due to the target platforms. Both the C128/C64/VIC20/C16 have their own native version of the application.

Release Notes – Version 2.0 Beta 2 – 2011-01-01

Changes:

  • (64, 128, Plus/4) Changed the timing code back to version 1.7 because the clock() function in cc65 does not reflect accurate timing.
  • (VIC, PET) The time(NULL) function is not available on these targets and thus had to be removed.
  • Help Hot-Key Fixed – Now when you press either F1 or H you get the help file (if the CBM-Command disk is in the drive you started CBM-Command from).
  • Updated Help File – the new help file by popmilo has been incorporated into the disk.
  • Directory navigation hot keys fixed.

Known Issues:

  • None – if you have a bug to report, PLEASE do so to the CBM-Command website or mailing list.

CBM-Command v2.0 Beta 1

November 26th, 2010 No comments

CBM-Command is a disk manager for the Commodore 64 / Commodore 128 / Commodore VIC20 and Commodore C16 computers. It is written like Norton Commander or Midnight Commander, but is much simpler due to the target platforms. Both the C128/C64/VIC20/C16 have their own native version of the application.

Release Notes – Version 2.0 Beta 1 – 2010-11-25

New Features:

  • REL file copying between devices that support REL files.
  • D71 disk image support – now you can create and write dual sided disk images with a 1571 drive.
  • Configurable Hot Keys – Don’t like the default keys? You can redefine them yourself for version 2.0 using the Configuration program.

Changes:

  • Almost all code optimized for space savings to allow more features.
  • Issuing a drive command is now done on the main screen instead of in a popup box.
  • When renaming a file, the directory remembers where you were so you don’t have to scroll to the newly named file any longer.
  • Changed disk image writes to reposition the buffer pointer in the drive instead of rolling the data in CBM-Command which freed up a buffer and some memory in the main program.
  • Old keyboard shortcuts that required using the C= key now use the SHIFT key instead.

Known Issues:

  • Documentation is way out of date. New documentation is being written but is not yet ready for this release.
  • * Some of the default keys have changed. If you cannot find your old keyboard shortcut then go into the Configuration program and redefine the function as you need. These changes will be documented in the new version of the docs.

1541 Ultimate II: Quick Project Status

September 23rd, 2010 No comments

This is the last notice for the Ultimate 1541 version 2.

from 1541 Ultimate homepage:

  • It is now possible to order accessories for the 1541U-II. This is possible through the “Order Status” page. In case your unit has already been shipped, please create another order of 0 (zero) 1541U-II units, and add the accessories to that order.
  • Tape connector boards have been ordered. Expect 150 of them in about 2 weeks. One board clicks under the 1541-II case; the other holds the 2×6 pin tape connector and tape feed-through. The two boards connect to each other using a standard 10-pin flat cable. The part that clicks under the 1541-II case can also be used to power the cartridge for stand-alone mode (requires software update). I am planning to ship the tape connector boards as build-it-yourself kits to keep it cheap. Assembly possible for a small extra fee.
  • If you paid after June 1, you will need to wait until the new production batch is finished. You will receive an E-mail about this soon! (Refund possible..)

Yape Plus/4 Emulator v1.0 updated

September 16th, 2010 No comments

From the Yape homepage:

Exactly 10 years has passed since the first public alpha (or rather: WIP) of Yape saw the light of day. It is just as unbelievable as it can get… sheesh.

It started off as an attempt at a more intelligent disassembler when I realized how much fun it really is to learn the hardware AND C++ programming at the same time while dealing with my all time favourite hobby.

I thought this anniversary would be also a nice opportunity to abandon the rather clumsy versioning I have been following in the past. Anyway I have not got much time to make a long rant here, so you will be spared :-)

v1.0 compared to v0.86 are as follows:

  • 32-bit and automatic bitdepth option in fullscreen mode (8 bit full screen mode might be slow under newer Windoze’s)
  • Copy & paste to/from the clipboard now respects upper/lower case mode.
  • Partially implemented 48 bps mode of the T6721A speech LSI.
  • G64 image support is no longer read only (yay, at last)
  • Reading from open address space.
  • Plenty of bugfixes (drive, TED, autostart, monitor etc.)

  • Realtime statistics on file copy and disk image operations.

Changes:

  • Fixed bug where disconnecting the drive set as default for the left panel would cause CBM-Command to freeze.
  • Fixed bug where using a long name for a created D64 would cause CBM-Command to always treat the drive as a 1581.
  • Fixed bug where the name input dialog for creating a D64 had junk in it.
  • Other bug fixes that I cannot remember right now.
