THE STORY

Oh dear. Oh my. Being Blob in a quiet world was a tough life and extremely boring, to the point that our intrepid hero decides to go out to his favourite place in Blobsville. But on the way, an evil bug flies overhead and captures him, and takes him off into deep space, into a strange place called Puzzle World. The evil bug throws Blob into a huge cell, which is literally impossible to escape!

A voice booms out:

Welcome to the Puzzle World prison. We have captured you, and will destroy your village. If you wish to save your world, and yourself then you will have to solve all puzzles that I give you in your cell. You won't be alone. We have Chatters out to stop you. Get him you fools!"

Poor Blob. He is in real trouble now. Only you can get him out of this mess!

THE GAME

The aim of INVERT is to simply invert all of the wrongly inverted tiles on each of the 32 levels. The trouble is that Blob is under the watchful eye of the Chatters. Cute and barmy, but vicious creatures, that are armed with deadly bombs that they throw now and then. The biggest enemy ,however, is TIME. You have 4000 points in time, on each stage before the spontaneous Blob combustion device is set.

There are various types of tiles that will help Blob or make his life a misery.

SHIELD Activated by the FIRE BUTTON, the shield tile will give you a temporary shield in which Blob can protect himself. The maximum number of shields you can keep are five. Collect any more and they will be wasted. Once you have completed a level or lost a life, you won't get your shields back unless picking up the shield tile. The shield tile will become a STANDARD tile after it has been picked up.

STANDARD TILE Move on to this, and the tile will become inverted

INVERTED TILE Move on to this, and the correct tile is restored.

ARROWS Those will push you to the next tile at a certain direction the ARROWS point.

REBOUNDERS Look like walls, but rebounders act like ARROWS, apart from these tiles will push you back to the previous tile. These are quite useful on some awkward stages.

TRAPDOORS These silver plated objects, will have no effect on Blob, unless a switch has been pressed to release the doors and reveal HOLES.

HOLES Avoid moving on to these. You will fall a painful and unpleasant death.

TRAPDOOR SWITCHES These come in two different forms: the T, which is upright will open all of the TRAPDOORS, and the switch T (Upside Down) will shut the trapdoors, and all HOLES will be covered up.

SCORING:

There are two different ways to score points:
- When you flip a tile correctly, you will get some points added.
- If you activate a shield pressing fire, and a bomb hits you while you are using the shield. Extra points will be scored.

LOSING LIVES:

The player will lose a life if:

- Your blob falls through HOLES
- The Spontaneous Blob Combustion Device is set after running out of time
- One of the Chatters chucks a bomb, and it hits you at any range on screen.

ACTIVATING SHIELDS:

The shield icons underneath the playing area indicate the amount of shields you have in your possession. If no shields are displayed, then you have no shields and will need to pick up the shield tiles to protect yourself from the bombs being thrown by Chatters.

BONUSES

You score bonus points according to the first 3 units on the Blob Combustion Device after completing a level.
