This is a minimal solution. You'll need to EXAMINE lots of things for this solution to make sense. Scores are shown in parentheses as (+A=B), where A is points earned and B is cumulative points earned. The maximum score is 28.

You can also earn karma for doing good deeds or lose karma for doing bad deeds. These are shown in square brackets as [+/-C=D], where C is karma gained or lost and D is cumulative karma. The minimum karma is -100. The maximum is +100. The game sort of ends if you receive the minimum or maximum karma, but it gives you an opportunity to continue.

Your objective is to obtain your freedom with the maximum points and maximum karma. There are four ways to obtain your freedom:
  - cork the bottle with the boy inside
  - cork the bottle with James Merl III inside
  - give the cheque to James Merl III
  - change James Merl III's name to 'Rich'
Only the last one will get you the maximum number of points. This is the solution given below.
