Unboxing C64SD V2 by Manosoft

C64SD V2 by Manosoft

Autopsy:

For a new review see the italian version of this article.

from C64Scene Homepage: This project is interesting not only because it’s another mass-storage solution but because it combines already existing solutions to a new and fresh product. Damiano has always followed all the Commdore related websites and forums especially concerning the MMC and SD2IEC projects.

That’s when he got the idea to build a solution for which one doesn’t need soldering, wire cutting or the IEC cable. C64SD utilizes the Datasette connector to power the SD2IEC circuit. An IEC connector connects right into the IEC port.

The whole module stand vertical along the back of the C64 (or VIC20). The module is fitted with two rather large buttons, one reset and one diskswap/multi-function button.

SD-CARD Tested:

SANDISK SD-CARD 2GB = 100% WORKING.
CORSAIR SD-CARD 512MB = 100% WORKING.

from c64scene.com Homepage:

Manosoft reached a version 2 milestone with his new mass-storage project, C64SD. The Italian developer Damiano Colombari based the C64SD design on the already existing SD2IEC solution.

Some new Games & Utility for Commodore VIC-20

March 13th, 2010 No comments

Some new Games & Utility for Commodore VIC-20.

  • AntiISDA Warrior. The game concept for AntiISDA Warrior was first developed on the Oric Atmos. The similarity to the game Space Invaders is not only coincidental, but here only the shots are movable, and not the enemies or the initial place for fire.
  • Berzerk MMX. A clone of the classic Stern arcade hit, Berzerk. Written in ca65 assembler.
  • CBM FileBrowser. A file browser for sd2iec firmware based drives (uIEC/SD2IEC/MMC2IEC) and standard CBM drives too.

EasyFlash Cartridge for Commodore 64

September 6th, 2009 No comments

EasyFlash Cartridge for Commodore 64from Homepage:

EasyFlash is a cartridge for the C64 expansion port. In contrast to traditional cartridges, this one can be programmed directly from the C64.

You can easily create various classic computer game cartridges, program collections or even a diagnostic cartridge to track down issues with your hardware with it.

All what you need to do this is a C64, an EasyFlash, the software available here and an image of the cartridge (*.crt). As these CRT files may be quite large, a large disk drive like the FD-2000 or an sd2iec may be useful.

EasyFlash is not a freezer cartridge like the Final Cartridge III or the Retro Replay. And it’s no replacement for a 1541 disk drive like the sd2iec.

SD2Iec inside a cassette Case

June 7th, 2009 No comments

from ArduinoNut Blog:

A little vulgar I know, but it’s an adequate expression of how I’m feeling right now. The SD2IEC is working beautifully.

Up to this point it was suffering from some syndrome resulting in erratic behaviour at best to a more normal position of outright refusal to work. I could make things work sometimes by shimmying wires around, so this seemed to be the obvious first move.

I stripped all the long wires away and remade the connections. It’s often easier to see where a wire should be routed second time around…
