Yet another Chinese product, but for €13 it was worth trying this crazy piece of crap. It works well for the price, but the problem, as I suspected, is the focal length, which is practically zero.

The protective ring MUST be placed on the object, so if we need to identify SMD components, such as 201 or 402 format, it “COULD” be fine, or if we want to see moles on the skin, leaves, hair, tiny insects, a cat’s butthole might even be fine, but if we want to use this lens to analyze broken tracks or micro short circuits with a PCB that uses THT components, it’s no good, absolutely useless because hits the components/pins/soldering points, the viewing range is limited, i should be much further away, but the lens doesn’t allow it and consequently it doesn’t focus.

Perfect gift for my daughter :-D

The High Voltage SID Collection (HVSC) is a freeware hobby project which organises Commodore 64 music (also known as SID music) into an archive for both musicians and fans alike.

The work on the collection is done completely in the Team and contributors’ spare time and is proudly one of the largest and most accurate computer music collections known.

This update features (all approximates):

• 623 new SIDs
• 72 fixed/better rips
• 8 repeats/bad rips eliminated
• 280 SID credit fixes
• 10 SID model/clock infos
• 11 tunes from /DEMOS/UNKNOWN/ identified
• 1 tunes from /GAMES/ identified
• 25 tunes moved out of /DEMOS/ to their composers’ directories
• 4 tunes moved out of /GAMES/ to their composers’ directories

CBM prg Studio Version 4.6.0 is released. There are a lot of new features in this version. I’d really appreciate it if you report any bugs you find or have any suggestions/comments.

CBM prg Studio allows you to type a BASIC or Machine Code program in using a nice Windows environment and convert it to a ‘.prg’ file which you can run on an emulator, or even a real C64 / VIC20 or PET if you’re feeling brave and have the right kit.

CBM prg Studio is the result of merging C64PrgGen and VIC20PrgGen. Adding new features and fixing bugs in two apps which were 95% similar was a bit of a nightmare so merging them made sense.

System Requirements:

• CBM prg Studio will run on any recent PC hardware, The only requirement is .NET 4.6 (minimum) must be installed.

New features in v4.6.0:

• Option to check for new version on startup.
• Option to treat “PI” as a keyword or not.
• In the debugger, moving the mouse over the screen RAM window will show character and address info.
• In the debugger, there is an option to skip Kernal calls.
• In the screen designer, there is a layout selector for the ‘map’ tab.
• {insert} can be used for screen code 148.
• In the character editor, values can be pasted into the raw data text box.

Bugs Fixed:

• After creating a Kick assembler project, ‘Generate and launch’ would fail if the project properties had not been shown first.
• In the screen designer, selecting the reverse of character set 2 would throw an exception.
• In the screen designer, importing screen data into a multi-colour screen would render it in single colour.
• Adding a new item from the menu bar would throw an exception.
• ‘Generate and Launch’ for a project did not use the most recent source files.
• Reformatting assembly code would not work if a line started with a ‘@’ (with a lable).
• Reformatting BASIC code (removing zeros) not working with DATA statements.
• Reformatting BASIC code (removing spaces) not working with DATA statements.
• MOUNT keyword missing from mega65 projects.
• Open Output Folder for a kick assembler project would fail if no output folder was defined.
• Some UI tweaks (buttons not visible etc.)

MOS Technology 6581/8580 SID (Sound Interface Device) Tatoo

Me, after making yet another useless purchase.

I’ll try to explain what happened; i already knew about the existence of this product but having a practically similar if not identical one i gave up but i always had my eye on the FNIRSI LCR-P1 which is built a little better, lighter and the firmware is frequently updated and consequently some bugs are solved, but 28.00 euros, no way!

I signed up for the twentieth time to aliexpress by creating a new account, the price from 28,00 euros dropped to 18,00 euros as a first purchase on Aliexpress but it was still too much.

I searched the internet for discount coupons for aliexpress, they can be found, i found a discount coupon of 6,00 euros (after trying at least twenty it worked) i applied it and the total at this point amounted to 12,00 euros shipped. How can you not buy something for 12,00 euros! how?

The product is good, similar to the previous one that you can find here with the review and photos.

So i won’t write everything again that i had already written in the other post, it’s identical but a little better.

SIDKick pico by Frenetic is a microcontroller-based C64 SID replacement. Analog inputs for paddles and mice are available just as for the original SID.

This release contains the firmware for SIDKick pico with only minor changes:

• The reset behavior has been modified to avoid the problems reported for old ultimax cartridges (e.g. Jupiter Lander).

Note:

There are different .uf2-files are firmware files with PWM and/or DAC output, flashing (RGB-)LED on/off AND for hardware revision 0.1 and 0.2, and the new SIDKick pico2040DAC.

Please read the troubleshooting section in case you experience problems.

The saying “if you spend few amount of money you get shit” is not always valid and this could be an example.

I would just like to clarify before receiving gratuitous insults that these tools are intended for Hobbyist use and NOT Professional.

FNIRSI (Shenzhen FNIRSI Technology Co., Ltd.) is a large Chinese manufacturer of electronics instruments at low price, given the very low cost i wanted to try three products and i was pleasantly surprised by the operation and precision, they are less ‘Chinese’ than other products with the same price.

I wanted to make a simple comparison with the FNIRSI® 2C53T (3in1 Oscilloscope 50MHz, Multimeter, Signal Generator) and with my now ancient WELEC W2022A oscilloscope with some problems and should be replaced, but that said the FNIRSI defends itself well and for some measurements it is more precise, the same goes for the smaller model namely the DSO-153 2-IN-1.

The Smart Digital Tweezer is undoubtedly very comfortable and quite precise, I noticed some hesitation on the measurement of Electrolytic Capacitors even after calibration while it is acceptable for the measurement of Inductors, Resistors and Capacitors (for example Ceramic, Polyester), another strong point is that it is magnetized (see photo) a small adhesive metal plate is provided.

Attention there are different purchase options for these products, some include all the accessories others do not, obviously it costs less.
