Atari 800XL miglioramenti Hardware.

Ho deciso di aggiornare il mio Atari 800XL con alcune interfacce disponibili sul sito di Lotharek.

Situazione attuale del mio Atari 800XL:

• Ultimate 1MB from Sebastian Bartkowicz (Candle) con l’ultimo Bios di FJC.
• VBXE + DIN Connector for RGB/Audio Output (Rimosso Modulatore RF)
• Simple Stereo + U-Switch + Jack Stereo 3.5 per l’uscita Audio.
• SIDE 2 / AVG Cartridge

Nuove interfacce installate:

• P-Covox + Jack Stereo 3.5 per l’uscita Audio.
• SRAM 64Kb.

Dopo aver installato il modulo SRAM 64Kb ho rimosso anche questa serie di circuiti integrati che non vengono più utilizzati dall’Atari 800XL.

SpartaDOS X (o SpartaDOS 4.0) è un sistema operativo per i computer Atari 8-bit, questo sistema operativo assomiglia all’MS-DOS ed ‘stato sviluppato e venduto da ICD Inc. nel 1987-1993.

Dieci anni più tardi il sistema operativo SpartaDOS X e’ diventato abandonware, approfittando di questo evento un gruppo di sviluppatori appassionati di retro-computer, in fattispecie di Atari 8-bit, hanno ripreso in mano il codice aggiungendo numerose migliorie e risolvendo molti bug che erano stati identificati tempo addietro.

Highlights:

• Improved compatibility of 1 MB RAMBO and 576k Compy Shop RAM extensions with the internal BASIC on XL/XE.
• CAR.COM: added support for the Weronika cartridge: to run the dedicated programs, use CAR /F filename.ext;
• INIDOS.SYS should now work for SIDE2.
• Fixed a major bug in the S_VBXE driver, which caused occasional hang ups after the Reset key was pressed.
• CON.SYS: 80-column mode can now survive a warm reset.
• CHKFAT.COM: new command line tool to verify FAT file systems compatibility with our FATFS driver
• New program: MD5 hash tool
• SC now version 1.0.0

Aggiornamento Atari 800XL.

Installazione e preparazione:

• Installazione interfaccia VBXE v2.1 .
• Installazione Simple Stereo + U-Switch.
• Formattazione e partizionmento CF Card (Sandisk ULTRA 2Gb) per la cartuccia SIDE 2 + SDX.

Software update:

• Aggiornamanto BIOS Ultimate 1MB (Primo batch del 2011) Flash AM29040BL.
• Aggiornamanto FIRMWARE Ultimate 1MB (Primo batch del 2011) Xilinx XC95144XL JTAG (v1 to v2)

Aggiornamenti/Fix:

• Risolti alcuni problemi con le connessioni tra l’interfaccia Ultimate 1MB e l’Atari 800XL che risultavano errate dalla prima installazione del 2011.
• Rimosso il modulatore RF e installazione di una presa DIN Femmina 8 Poli + GND per l’uscita RGB + RGB CTRL + SYNC + AUDIO (Stereo)
• Ho fatto anche un cavo schermato da DIN Maschio 8 Poli a Scart della lunghezza di 4 metri senza perdita di qualita’ video.
