E’ stata rilasciata una nuova versione del programma CBM prg Studio. Ci sono un sacco di nuove funzionalità e fix in questa versione e sono sempre gradite le segnalazioni di bug o suggerimenti/commenti.
CBM prg Studio e’ un kit di sviluppo che gira in ambiente Windows e vi permette di programmare in Commodore Basic e Linguaggio Macchina(LM), il programma potrà poi essere compilato in un file eseguibile “.PRG” per Commodore 64 / VIC-20 o PET.
La suite è anche completa di un ottimo sprite editor che permette di definire fino a 128 pattern, nonché di un funzionale char editor, che permette di avere una gestione completa e sotto controllo della procedura per la ridefinizione del charset interno al C64 e al Vic20.
Infine il CBM prg Studio, offre una completo e facile controllo della complessa gestione della tastiera del C64 e Vic20 ed in particolare dei caratteri PETSCII che contraddistinguevano le macchine sotto il marchio Commodore e che rappresentavano una chiave fondamentale per la programmazione in ambiente Basic, alla stregua di un vero e proprio macro linguaggio.
System Requirements:
- CBM prg Studio will run on any recent PC hardware, The only requirement is .NET 4.6 (minimum) must be installed.
New features in v4.6.0:
- Option to check for new version on startup.
- Option to treat “PI” as a keyword or not.
- In the debugger, moving the mouse over the screen RAM window will show character and address info.
- In the debugger, there is an option to skip Kernal calls.
- In the screen designer, there is a layout selector for the ‘map’ tab.
- {insert} can be used for screen code 148.
- In the character editor, values can be pasted into the raw data text box.
Bugs Fixed:
- After creating a Kick assembler project, ‘Generate and launch’ would fail if the project properties had not been shown first.
- In the screen designer, selecting the reverse of character set 2 would throw an exception.
- In the screen designer, importing screen data into a multi-colour screen would render it in single colour.
- Adding a new item from the menu bar would throw an exception.
- ‘Generate and Launch’ for a project did not use the most recent source files.
- Reformatting assembly code would not work if a line started with a ‘@’ (with a lable).
- Reformatting BASIC code (removing zeros) not working with DATA statements.
- Reformatting BASIC code (removing spaces) not working with DATA statements.
- MOUNT keyword missing from mega65 projects.
- Open Output Folder for a kick assembler project would fail if no output folder was defined.
- Some UI tweaks (buttons not visible etc.)

Un po’ acerbo ma comunque interessante questo software scritto da SLC che permette di Scrivere e Leggere i formati file C64 (D64/G64) utilizzando un normale Floppy Drive da 360k con l’interfaccia Greaseweazle.
Per capire bene come funziona questo programma bisognerebbe inanzitutto leggere il README che si trova nell’archivio del programma.
Lo provato personalmente e funziona discretamente bene, l’unico problema e’ la gestione doppia faccia dei Floppy Disk per Commodore 64, non mi sto a dilungare troppo su questa questione ma in parole povere i Floppy Drive PC non permettono di girare il floppy disk per utilizzare anche l’altra faccia del Floppy Disk, il sensore ottico e’ presente solo sul lato sinistro del lettore (il Floppy Drive del Commodore 64 non ha questo sensore).
Esistono delle MOD per raggirare questo irritante problema, mod non proprio immediate e non per tutti i Lettori.
Dunque diciamolo senza peli sulla lingua, se volete leggere e scrivere Floppy Disk per Commodore 64 quello che consiglio io e’ il software OPENCBM + Hardware XUM (ZoomFloppy) o simili e un drive nativo del Commodore 64 (1541/1541-II). :-D … e va tutto alla grande.
