Questa Flash cart per Videopac/Odyssey 2 è basata sul progetto Videopac-microSD Multicart di Wilco2009 (https://github.com/wilco2009/Videopac-micro-SD-Cart)

La PicoPAC è una multicart fai da te basato sul clone economico di Raspberry Pi Pico “VIOLA”, facile da costruire e non costoso e inoltre utilizza la flash da 16 MB per archiviare i giochi invece della scheda SD.

Questa è una Flash cart per SABA Videoplay di Andrea Ottaviani.

Questa è una versione alternativa (forked) basata sulla multi cartridges 3DMaze PicoVideocart per usare un pcb più economico e semplice basato sul clone Pico “Purple” e usare la sua flash interna da 16mb per archiviare i giochi al posto della SDCard.

Qui di seguito trovate le foto di come ho riposizionato il LED e il PULSANTE, ho preferito installare ambedue in questa posizione piuttosto che nel retro della cartuccia (posizione di default del PCB).

Un’altra cosa che ci tengo a dire e’ di saldare la Pi Pico Purple il piu’ vicino possibile allo stampato, io ho saldato le strip e poi ho rimosso il supporto di plastica, questo per evitare che poi vi troviate in difficolta’ a chiudere il case della cartuccia.

Inoltre potete scaricare l’etichetta della cartuccia (fronte e retro), firmware e i giochi in formato UF2, vanno programmati prima i giochi e poi il firmware.

Prima di tutto vorrei ringraziare Ralf Schmitz per questo fantatico regalo.

Breve descrizione presa direttamente da Wikipedia della console Saba Videoplay (Fairchild Channel F):

La Fairchild Channel F è stata la prima console programmabile basata su cartucce ROM e ha dato inizio alla seconda generazione di console. È stata messa in vendita dalla Fairchild Semiconductor (una divisione della ditta madre) nel mese di agosto del 1976 al costo di 169,95 dollari statunitensi. Inizialmente denominata Video Entertainment System o VES, prese il nome di Channel F poco prima del lancio. Complessivamente ne sono state vendute circa 250.000 unità.

La console e’ arrivata in uno discreto stato di conservazione ma comunque aveva i seguenti problemi:

• Pulsante di Reset rotto.
• Ambedue i Joystick non funzionavano correttamente.
• Una piccola parte dell’angolo del PCB lato interuttore accensione spezzato.
• Riparazione grossolana con nastro adesivo del cavo di ambedue i Joystick.

La riparazione e’ stata piuttosto semplice ma impegnativa, sistemare il cavo del joystick non e’ stato proprio divertente, ho dovuto tagliare il cavo perche’ uno o piu’ fili erano interrotti, inoltre ho dovuto inventarmi un passacavo per un joystick che mancava e forare un passacavo con il cavo interrotto proprio all’interno per infilare poi il cavo tagliato e saldare i fili all’interno del joystick. (vedi foto)

Il pulsante di reset e’ bastato incollarlo. (vedi foto)

Ho lucidato il case della console che aveva il classico colore nero opaco e secco delle plstiche anni 70 con l’olio di lino, ne basta poco su un PAD struccante o uno straccio in cotone, il risultato e’ sorprendente.

Per completezza ho installato anche la modifica videocomposito di e5frog che funziona bene, ho dovuto solo portare una massa ausiliaria (sebbene e’ gia collegata la massa del negativo dell’alimentazione) dal PCB alla scocca di metallo (vedi foto) perche’ mi dava disturbi video, ora e’ perfetto.

SIDKick pico di Frenetic è un sostituto del chip SID per C64 basato su microcontrollore. Gli ingressi analogici per paddle e mouse sono disponibili proprio come per il SID originale.

Changelog:

• Removing of audio bumps/ramps in PWM output
• Optional offsetting of paddle values (in case diagnostic ROMs complain)

SD-1000/PiCOLECO/PiRTO-II sono delle Flash Multicart per Sega SC3000/SG-1000,CBS ColecoVision,Mattel Intellivision di Andrea Ottaviani basate sulla versione economica della Raspberry Pi Pico clone (pcb di colore viola).

Ho voluto provare e assemblare questo interessante progetto e devo dire che sono rimasto molto soddisfatto. Ho anche contattato Andrea per un piccolo problema di caricamento delle ROM per la Multicart Intellivision ed e’ stato subito disponibile sebbene era Domenica ora di pranzo :-D

Come aggiornare il firmware con il case chiuso? È necessario premere il pulsante sul PI Pico Purple mentre si inserisce l’USB-C per l’aggiornamento del firmware.
Totalmente escluso ogni volta svitando e riavvitando le viti, quindi microforo da 1,5 mm nella posizione giusta, perfetto.
