Ho approfittato di questa riparazione per “zoccolare” tutta la scheda madre e utilizzarla come “test board” per altre riparazioni.
Catweasel Z-II Mk2 (Pulizia urina di Gatto)
Difetto:
- La scheda non viene riconosciuta dal computer.
Pulizia:
- La Catweasel presenta tracce di urina di gatto che con il tempo si e’ cristalizzato causando corrosioni e corto circuiti. Ho utilizzato il KONTACT PCC & Spazzolino per pulire. Ho verificato la continuita’ nei fori passanti tra layer e le piste in generale. Ora sembra funzionare correttamente.

Sostituzione condensatori Peggy Plus (Scala MD100) v1.1
Questa scheda Z2 per Amiga presenta un problema di distorsione audio su un canale. Ho sostituito tutti i condensatori al tantalio , 2 di questi nella sezione Audio.
Purtroppo non potendo provare questa scheda, ho preso in considerazione che potrebbe anche essere un problema del NE5532 un Dual Low-Noise Amplificatore Operazionale cosi’ nel dubbio lo zoccolato, sara’ cura della persona che provera’ la scheda sostituirlo nel caso ci sia bisogno.

- Problemi di accesso al Floppy Drive (IEC): il drive si resetta correttamente ma rimane fermo sul “searching for”

- Sostituito l’integrato EL7416 con un 7406PC (U8)

Ho anche rimosso un orrendo connettore saldato direttamente sulla userport del c64.

Difetto/Parti Mancanti:
- Due Condensatori Elettrolitici si sono staccati e i piedini sono spariti…
- Schermo Spazzatura.
Componenti Sostituiti:
- Sostituiti i due Condensatori Elettrolitici da 220uF/50v e 330uF/50v.
- Sostituito 74LS00 (U31)

Credo sia assolutamente inutile fare l’ennesima recensione sul SupaBoy S della Hyperkin, ce ne sono centinaia in rete.
Ho scritto questo breve articolo e fatto un breve video solo per confermare la compatiblita’ con la cartuccia SD2Snes e scattare qualche foto dell’interno del SupaBoy S.
Il SupaBoy S non e’ un’emulatore di Super Nintendo/Super Famicom ma bensi un “clone” hardware della console originale, altre console come lo Yobo FC Twin avevano a suo tempo utilizzato lo stesso sistema di Custom Chip.
Questa scelta e’ assolutamente vincente perche’ la compatibilita’ con il software e’ molto alta, io per ora non ho avuto nessun problema con i giochi che ho provato , compresi giochi MSU-1 con CD-quality Audio e Filmati Video.
L’unica nota dolente e’ il segnale Video, interno e esterno perche’ ambedue le sorgenti sono utilizzano un segnale composito che non e’ proprio il massimo, potevano fare di megglio , magari prelevando il segnale RGB subito dopo l’encoder video SONY CXA 1645M e renderlo disponibile con un connettore esterno.

Questa collezione e’ completamente gratuita ed e’ opera di un Team di persone che negli anni ha lavorato per rendere la migliore raccolta di SID tunes.

Ikari ha rilasciato il nuovo firmware per la SD2Snes la Flash Cartridge per Super Nintendo/Famicom. Le istruzioni per l’aggiornamento le potete trovare qui.
Changelog:
- Fix critical DAC timing quirk causing audio distortion with MSU1.
- Fix clock glitch on SD card access leading to audio/video distortion with MSU1 in rare cases.
- Properly map SRAM to banks f0-ff instead of f0-fd in Mode 20 (“LoROM”) memory map.
- Add support for headered bsxbios.bin
- Slight SD Card read performance optimization for MSU1 (try and avoid unaligned reads)
- Change initial SRAM fill value (by devinacker)
- Fixes Ken Griffey Jr., Ou-chan, possibly other games that handle checksums badly.
- Always start game on PPU2 field 0
- Theoretical compatibility improvement.

- No more blocking timeouts, that may hang indefinitely
- Fix for a bug accessing USB2LAN adapters

- U2 audio output fixed; as it was harsh and ugly.

- Navigate to the unzipped file ‘update_audio_495.u2u’ or ‘update_dual_drive_495.u2u’ and select “Run Update”
