Jean-François DEL NERO (la persona che sta dietro lo sviluppo dell’emulatore Floppy HxC SD) ha recentemente rilasciato una versione del firmware HxC compatibile con il chip STM32 utilizzato nel Floppy Drive Gotek.

Questo significa che possiamo godere di quasi tutte le features che il firmware HxC supporta anche per l’economico Floppy Drive Gotek.

Il bootloader per convertire il floppy drive Gotek in HxC compatibile va acquistato sul sito di HXC 2001 inviando un’email a Jean-François DEL NERO. Il prezzo del bootloader e’ di 10 euro una tantum per ogni Gotek che si vuole aggiornare/convertire. Gli aggiornamenti successivi del software sono gratuti e possono essere fatti da chiavetta USB.

Amiga 4000 completamente devastata da ambedue i lati del PCB dall’acido fuoriuscito della batteria e tenuta in ambiente umido per almeno 20 anni.

Ci sono ancora un paio di cose da recuperare, ma lo faro’ in un secondo momento, ovvero all’occorrenza.

Prima di tutto una breve premessa, tutte le riparazioni che faccio sono SOLO per Hobby, non e’ un lavoro, gli oggetti che riparo rientrano all’interno di un cerchio di persone che reputo bisognose del mio aiuto, il resto delle persone possono liberamente chiederlo da un’altra parte per farsi riparare il materiale retro, non mi offendo.

Mi ha contattato una persona bisognosa del mio aiuto per una riparazione e dopo uno scambio di messaggi ho accettato di riparare il suo Amiga 4000 che al boot visualizzava solo uno schermo Nero.

Questo Amiga 4000 era corredato dalla scheda CPU 3640 alcuni banchi SIMM e l’alimentatore.

Ho notato subito un danno abbastanza importante causato dalla fuoriscita di acido della batteria e dai condensatori.

Dopo aver eseguito un’accurata pulizia di tutto e sostituito i condensatori della motherboard / 3640 e dell’alimentatore il difetto ovviamente persisteva.

A questo punto ho utilizzato la DIAGROM di Chucky, la DIAGROM e’ utile per capire cosa potrebbe essere che non funziona, molto utile anche l’output via RS232 nel caso non venga visualizzato nulla a schermo.

Purtroppo la DIAGROM funzionava parzialmente perche’ il mouse era del tutto morto e dunque ho dovuto utilizzare l’output via Seriale ma anche questo funzionava parzialmente perche’ evidentemente anche la seriale non funzionava ma in alcuni momenti di precario funzionamento sono riuscito a scegliere il test del Suono e non veniva riprodotto alcun suono.

Morale: Seriale parzialmente funzionante + Mouse non funzionante + Audio non funzionante = Paula.

Sostituito il PAULA (U400) tutto ha ripreso a funzionare correttamente a parte la FASTRAM che con 4 moduli SIMM da 4MB l’uno venivano visti dal sistema solo 2 nelle posizioni U852/U853 per un totale di 8MB.

Il problema era causato da un cortocircuito probabilmente dall’acido fuoriuscito dalla batteria, ho dovuto pulire per la decima volta il PCB nella zona interessata e il problema si e’ risolto definitivamente.

Non ho altro da dire se non che sono contento di aver riparato anche questo Amiga 4000 ad una persona bisognosa del mio aiuto.
