Il software (firmware) della cartuccia 1541 Ultimate di Gideon è ora Open Source! il sorgente deve essere ancora documentato e perfezionato , molte locazioni hardware utilizzate nel sorgente sono ancora sconosciute, ma la cosa importante e che le persone interessate possono vedere il codice sorgente, modificare e creare nuove applicazioni per la cartuccia 1541 Ultimate!

Il sorgente è stato rilasciato sotto licenza GPL 3.0, che in breve significa che ogni aggiunta al codice sorgente dovra’ essere Open Source e non potra’ essere Venduto.

Istruzioni per compilare:

• Installare Cygwin, o utilizzare Linux/oSX. con i programmi:
  • GNU make per eseguire il Makefile.
  • GCC compiler, il compilatore.
• Installare CC65 (http://www.cc65.org), con i path e variabili d’ambiente configurate.
• Installare un SVN client, esempio: Tortoise SVN.
• Scaricare l’SVN da: http://svn.xp-dev.com/svn/gideonz_1541Ultimate/
• Andare nella directory ‘trunk’ e scrivere ‘make’.

Il Commodore 116 è un modello di home computer sviluppato dalla Commodore Japan Ltd, facente parte della serie 264, successiva al Commodore 64. Fu presentato nel giugno del 1984 in occasione del CES. Le vendite iniziarono alla fine dello stesso anno in coincidenza delle feste Natalizie.

A differenza di altri modelli, fu prodotto esclusivamente dalla Commodore Tedesca (Commodore Büromaschinen GmbH), e commercializzato solo in Germania e Ungheria. In origine era prevista anche una versione NTSC per il mercato USA, ma l’insuccesso della serie ne arrestò lo sviluppo.

SHO-FLI (Sprite Hires Overlay FLI / Sprite Overlay Hires FLI) è una modalita’ grafica del c64 con delle caratteristiche piuttosto interessanti.

Funziona esattamente come la modalità SHFLI ma l’immagine è più ampia a causa della sovrapposizione con 1 sprite (piuttosto che due in SHFLI), questa modalita’ grafica è conosciuta anche come SHF-XL originariamente inventata da Crossbow / Crest.

Java Ice Team 64 Tracker e’ un programma musicale (scritto in Java) per la creazione di chip tunes basate sul famoso sound-chip ‘SID’ del Commodore 64. Gli strumenti sono basati su tabelle per avere un completo controllo del suono generato.

La nuova versione include alcuni bug corretti e nuove caratteristiche:

• Option: temp directory is automatically given by the systemOption: activate the disable real time compilation option.
• Option: add Nimbus theme.
• Patterns: add cut functions and shortcut to cut/copy/paste/clear/select.
• Patterns: add mute/unmute playing of the voice.
• Tracks: fix semaphore red bug when press play and no compilation in background done.
• Tracks: Report when there is a sound problem (sometimes the sound core library is not able to have a free sound line to use) when playing the tune.
• Player: fix track repetition command errors.
• Player: fix note transpose for instrument.

DirMaster è un programma per la gestione dei files del Commodore 64, del tipo (D64,. D81. T64, ecc) e anche formati compressi ad esempio. Arc. Sda. lnx, ecc. Il programma DirMaster gira sotto M$ Windows.

Novita’ in questa versione:

The annoying bug in the firmware that had rendered the Ethernet interface almost useless has finally been fixed.

In comparison to 1.5, the following has been fixed:

• Reads from the Ethernet chip have been fixed. The unit now correctly receives packets.
