E’ stata rilasciata una nuova versione del programma CBM prg Studio. Ci sono un sacco di nuove funzionalità e fix in questa versione e sono sempre gradite le segnalazioni di bug o suggerimenti/commenti.

CBM prg Studio e’ un kit di sviluppo che gira in ambiente Windows e vi permette di programmare in Commodore Basic e Linguaggio Macchina(LM), il programma potrà poi essere compilato in un file eseguibile “.PRG” per Commodore 64 / VIC-20 o PET.

La suite è anche completa di un ottimo sprite editor che permette di definire fino a 128 pattern, nonché di un funzionale char editor, che permette di avere una gestione completa e sotto controllo della procedura per la ridefinizione del charset interno al C64 e al Vic20.

Infine il CBM prg Studio, offre una completo e facile controllo della complessa gestione della tastiera del C64 e Vic20 ed in particolare dei caratteri PETSCII che contraddistinguevano le macchine sotto il marchio Commodore e che rappresentavano una chiave fondamentale per la programmazione in ambiente Basic, alla stregua di un vero e proprio macro linguaggio.

CBM prg Studio sostituisce le ormai obsolete Tools: C64PrgGen e VIC20PrgGen.

This is mostly a bug-fix version, though there are some small new features.

Bugs Fixed:

• Assembler:
  • Problems with spaces in expressions.
  • Problems with spaces in ‘repeat’ parameters.
  • Screen codes in byte/text directives not generated properly.
  • Breakpoints were not sent to a debugger properly when building projects.
  • Some zero page optimisation issues.

• BASIC:
  • Renumber problems for programs with multiple ‘ON’ statements
  • Problems with importing/generating PI and other characters.
  • Some characters missing from import.

• Screen Code tool:
  • CBM key would lock sometimes.

• General:
  • Code snippets had to be re-generated.
  • ‘Go to’ dialog crash with large files.
  • ‘Go to’ dialog caused weird zooming issues.
  • Issues with selected columns of text.
  • Problems with compress/uncompress with some control codes.

Note In this version, each target machine can have its own default project directory. If you are upgrading from a previous version (before version 2.5.1) of CBM prg Studio you may be asked to set up your project directories again. Your current projects will not be affected.

• SuperFX support by RedGuy! This is the duck’s guts. What an accomplishment. Big thanks to RedGuy!
• EXPERIMENTAL brightness patching for S-CPUN based consoles (1CHIP/Jr). The patching is comprised of two parts:
  • 1CHIP transient fix – tries to alleviate some graphical issues with 1CHIP consoles where it reacts unfavorably to sudden changes to the brightness register. This fixes the shadow in Air Strike Patrol, warped scanlines in Rudra’s Treasure, and faded scanlines at the top of the screen on certain Capcom games when the console is equipped with a de-ghosting fix involving the replacement of the C11 capacitor.
  • Brightness limit – can be used to limit brightness on consoles where the stock RGB levels are too high.

• NOTE: There are known problems with games that use DMA to set the brightness register. Notably Star Fox and some MSU1 video players. You should disable it if you intend to play those. For now I’m releasing it as is because I still think it can be useful (and I’ll be gone for two weeks and didn’t want to delay this release any further :-D)
• Added ExLoROM support (LoROM > 32Mbits)
• The In-game hook is now disabled by default.
• Touched up the menu a bit – dependent settings are printed in grey if the higher-level setting is disabled
• Changed the version numbering by eliminating the eternal leading zero. The last digit can now be used for small revisions or fixes.

Some minor fixes are still outstanding which I will address in a couple of weeks after I have returned from vacation.

Jean-François DEL NERO (la persona che sta dietro lo sviluppo del Floppy emulator HxC SD) ha recentemente rilasciato una versione del firmware HxC compatibile con il chip STM32 utilizzato nel Floppy Drive Gotek.

Questo significa che possiamo godere di quasi tutte le features che il firmware HxC supporta anche per l’economico Floppy Drive Gotek.

Il bootloader per convertire il floppy drive Gotek in HxC compatibile va acquistato sul sito di HXC 2001 inviando un’email a Jean-François DEL NERO. Il prezzo del bootloader e’ di 10 euro una tantum per ogni Gotek che si vuole aggiornare/convertire. Gli aggiornamenti successivi del software sono gratuti e possono essere fatti da chiavetta USB.

Vampire A600 V2 – Fix Video Flickering con Black Screen

Gunner scrive sul Forum della Apollo Vampire che un modo per correggere il problema del segnale video che sparisce e che affligge alcune installazioni e’ saldare due condensatori di 22uf 16v in parallelo a C3 e C6 della Vampire A600 V2.

Per ora sembra funzionare correttamente.

Ho deciso di pulire e sistemare il mio Commodore Amiga 500, si proprio lui, quella che si vede nelle mie vecchie foto.

Come si puo’ vedere dalle foto gli interuttori e pulsanti sono rimasti al loro posto mentre gli adesivi sono stati rimossi molti anni fa’.

Il Commodore Amiga 500 e’ stato sempre conservato in una scatola difatti ha mantenuto il colore originale del case e della tastiera.

Le foto qui di seguito sono prima della pulizia, dopo la pulizia e le foto d’epoca.

Inizio subito a dire che la meccanica del Floppy Drive, Base metallica con il Trasformatore sono finiti nella spazzatura, erano irrecuperabili (vedi foto).

Quello che ho fatto e’ pulire accuratamente il contenitore esterno del Floppy Drive di cui sono abbastanza soddisfatto del risultato.

Quindi mi sono messo a riparare e pulire accuratamente la motherboard del Floppy Drive (REV 1540050) che aveva i seguenti problemi (vedi foto):

• Ho dovuto zoccolare tutto perche’ la ruggine si era insinuata sotto tutti gli integrati creando non pochi problemi.
• Togliere i regolatori di tensione e pulire la ruggine che c’era sotto il dissipatore.
• Pulire e provare i singoli integrati dopo averli rimossi.
• Pulire lo stampato.
• Sostituite 2 x 6522 (VIA) non funzionanti.
• Sostituita 1 x 6502 (CPU) non funzionanti.
• Sostituita 1 x HM6116P (STATIC RAM) non funzionante.
• Sostituite 2 x Resistenze da 9.1k 1% interrotte.
• Sostituita per sicurezza anche 1 x Resistenza da 91ohm 1%.
• Spostato lato saldature il condensatore ceramico (FIX Commodore) che era fissato sopra il 74LS86.

Cosa ho utilizzato per la pulire il contenitore esterno del Floppy Drive:

• Utilizzato abbondante acqua corrente strofinando con una spazzola per togliere tutto quello che si riusciva senza utilizzare prodotti specifici.
• Utilizzato del CIF GEL con Candeggina che ho lasciato agire per circa 30 minuti.
• Risciacquato abbondantemente con acqua strofinando sempre con la spazzola e con delle spatole (Raschietto) in plastica della stanley
• Queste ultime due fasi le ho ripetute almeno per 3 volte.

• Utilizzato CIF Sgrassatore con Bicarbonato che ho lasciato agire per circa 10 minuti.
• Con una Spazzola / Spazzolino da denti / Stuzzicadenti / Cotton Fioc / Spatole in plastica (Raschietto) della stanley ho strofinato e pulito le parti piu’ sporche e nascoste.
• Risciacquato abbondantemente con acqua strofinando sempre con la spazzola.
• Queste ultime tre fasi le ho ripetute almeno per 4 volte.

• Ho completato la pulizia con il Glassex e Alcohol.

Ho utilizzato una meccanica del Floppy Drive e Trasformatore che ho trovato in laboratorio e che ho installato nel contenitore del Floppy Drive VC-1541.
