Questo e’ il Battery Pack per il Newbrain, molto comodo e molto leggero :D utile per portare il computer in spiaggia durante le vacanze estive.

Ovviamente il Battery Expansion Unit dopo molti anni di inutilizzo presentava un po’ di problemi alle 20 batterie da 1.2v 600mA al NiCd.

Le batterie oltre ad essere completamente esaurite presentavo fuoriuscita di acido. (vedi foto)

Fortunatamente non ci sono stati grossi danni con la fuoriuscita di acido ed e’ bastato pulire bene, dissaldare le 20 batterie e rimpiazzarle con delle nuove da 1000mA.

Ultimo aggiornamento: ho notato un malfunzionamento del Battery Expansion Unit, quando mettevo l’interuttore su OFF il LED “discharge” restava acceso.

Guardando lo schema, l’interuttore interrompe la carica e l’utilizzo delle batterie, il problema era causato da una piazzola (vedi foto) che a prima vista sembrava collegata assieme ad un’altra, subito vicino, ma in verita’ non era cosi’, e’ bastato interrompere il collegamento ed ora funziona correttamente.

Ho rimosso il condensatore di filtro carbonizzato (RIFA) di entrambi gli alimentatori e pulito i cavi sporchi.

DirMaster è un programma per la gestione dei files del Commodore 64, del tipo (D64,. D81. T64, ecc) e anche i formati compressi ad esempio: Arc. Sda. lnx, ecc. Il programma DirMaster gira sotto M$ Windows.

Issues reported by users that were resolved in v3.1.3:

• Windows XP compatibility restored in 3.1.3 [0182] (Luca/FIRE + others)
• Extending a d64 from 35 to 40 tracks, track 35 is destroyed [0172] (stephan-andres)
• cvt file copy would result in failure to validate the disk in GEOS [0178] (scott.hutter)

Thanks to all who made an effort to submit bug reports. If you sent a bug report and don’t see it addressed here, don’t worry, it’s in the queue.

Other issues resolved in v3.1.3:

• “Mark disk for GEOS” incorrectly writes the border sector [0181]
• New d64 images are more accurately matching the 1541 formatted content (open1,8,15,”n0:” style) [0179]
• BAM view could cause a crash when viewing truncated disk images, this should be less likely now [0168]
• An error message would sometimes be shown when quitting DirMaster after launching a disk image in an emulator [0159]

Belated thanks to Bacchus/FLT who sent most of the issues that were addressed in 3.1.2.

Sì, è una lunga storia, perché ho modificato questo Atari 2600 JR diverse volte.

La prima volta ho fatto una modifica video composito senza aggiungere nessun componente esterno, poi ho fatto quella con 1 transistor e un paio di resistenze, poi ancora, il mio amico Charlie mi ha regalato la modifica UAV (Ultimate Atari Video) fatta da un’utente del forum AtariAge e oggi ho inserito gli RCA per le uscite video/audio al posto del cavo che usciva attraverso il foro del connettore RF.

Ho utilizzato lo stesso foro dell’uscita RF per l’uscita VIDEO. Ho saldato un connettore RCA da stampato utilizzando gli stessi fori del connettore RCA per l’uscita RF, la stessa pista che serviva per il segnale RF lo riutilizzata per il segnale Composito, ho dovuto rimuovere una resistenza (R19) per isolare la traccia.

Ultimate64/U64 Speaker con un piccolo miglioramento.

Non mi piaceva molto vedere l’U64 Speaker che per via del piccolo connettore e del peso tendeva a inclinarsi e non era allineato alla motherboard.

Ho risolto il problema abbastanza elegantemente inserendo un piccolo spessore di plastica incollato con una goccia di Loctite sul lato inferiore della scheda madre dell’altoparlante U64.

Il problema di questa radio di fine anni 60 era dovuto alla mancanza di uno strato di foam, sicuramente rimosso da qualcuno.

Lo strato sottile di foam all’interno della porta batteria serve per bloccare le batterie nella loro posizione, mancando questo strato sottile di foam la radio si spegne o funziona a singhiozzo se viene urtata o spostata.
