Cosa sono le DiagROM?

Le DiagROM sono delle ROM diagnostiche per gli Home Computer della serie Commodore Amiga. Queste ROM tornano molto utili in alcune sistuazioni, tipo quando il computer non esegue correttamente il boot o si blocca.

  • Totally rewritten Autoconfig, now handles Z2 and Z3 and should be working. if you get stuck in a loop (autoconfig not working) it
  • will halt after 32 “boards”. Also in ManualEdit mode, I have inlcuded a function to turn on/off cache. to debug cacheissues on CPU Cards.
  • BE CAREFUL! this WILL crash if you run it on a 68000/010
  • Also fixed bug of garbage in menus.

Jean-François DEL NERO (la persona che sta dietro lo sviluppo del Floppy emulator HxC SD) ha recentemente rilasciato una versione del firmware HxC compatibile con il chip STM32 utilizzato nel Floppy Drive Gotek.

Questo significa che possiamo godere di quasi tutte le features che il firmware HxC supporta anche per l’economico Floppy Drive Gotek.

Il bootloader per convertire il floppy drive Gotek in HxC compatibile va acquistato sul sito di HXC 2001 inviando un’email a Jean-François DEL NERO. Il prezzo del bootloader e’ di 10 euro una tantum per ogni Gotek che si vuole aggiornare/convertire. Gli aggiornamenti successivi del software sono gratuti e possono essere fatti da chiavetta USB.

L’Atari 2600, pubblicizzata nei primi anni di commercializzazione come Atari VCS (Video Computer System), fu una console per videogiochi prodotta da Atari e venduta a partire dall’11 settembre 1977.

È stata tra le prime console a utilizzare le cartucce come metodo di distribuzione dei giochi ed è anche ricordata come la prima console di successo: ne sono stati infatti venduti circa 30 milioni di esemplari. È anche una delle più longeve macchine da gioco mai prodotte, dato che fuori dagli Stati Uniti d’America è stata infatti venduta, nelle sue versioni derivate, fino al 1991.

E’ costituito da una manopola e da uno o piu’ pulsanti. La manopola fa capo internamente a un potenziomentro (generalmente da 1Mohm) e permette una rotazione di circa 330 gradi.

L’Atari Trak-Ball è un tipo di periferica di puntamento o movimento. La sua componente principale è una sfera, libera di ruotare in una cavità dell’involucro dove si trovano sensori che ne rilevano il movimento, e parzialmente accessibile dall’esterno in modo da potere essere comandata dalla mano e in prossimità della sfera si trovano due grandi pulsanti a forma triangolare.

Tutte queste componenti sono molto simili a quelle di un mouse. La Trak-Ball su Atari viene soprattutto utilizzata con giochi come Centipede, Missile Command, Crystal Castle, ecc.

Il registratore a cassette XC11 permette il salvataggio o il caricamento di programmi/dati da supporto magnetico (cassetta audio).

La velocita’ di trasferimento è di 600bits per secondo, quindi su una normale cassetta da 60 minuti è possibile registrare circa 100.000 bytes di dati.

A differenza del nuovo modello XC12, nell’XC11 troviamo il connettore passante SIO pertanto questo dispositivo puo’ essere collegato in qualsiasi punto della catena SIO.

L’alimentazione viene fornita dallo stesso cavo Serial I/O (SIO).

Non ho trovato molte informazioni su questo specifico modello di registratore a cassette Atari 410 se non che e’ uno dei primi modelli che sono stati prodotti per la serie Atari 400/800 e che non ha il passante SIO per collegare altre periferiche esterne.

Informazioni generali:

Il registratore a cassette modello 410 funziona ad una velocità di 600 bit/s ed utilizza normali audiocassette per il caricamento/salvataggio dei programmi.

Tutte le periferiche Atari usano la porta proprietaria SIO che permette di collegare più periferiche contemporaneamente in un’unica catena.
