La “High Voltage SID Collection (HVSC)” è un collezione che raccoglie migliaia di brani musicali del Commodore 64 (noti anche come brani SID).

Questa collezione e’ completamente gratuita ed e’ opera di un Team di persone che negli anni ha lavorato per rendere la migliore raccolta di SID tunes.

Quando rimuovete un’integrato con il cacciavite bisogna stare attenti ad alzare l’integrato dallo zoccolo e non lo zoccolo dal PCB :lol:

Detto questo e dopo aver ponticellato la pista interrotta del GTIA e sostituito un RAM guasta il computer ha ripreso a funzionare correttamente.

Dopo la riparazione ho anche fatto la modifica per migliorare il segnale S-Video (la serie XE ha l’uscita anche S-Video).

Questa semplice modifica va a sostituire/aggiungere alcune resistenze e condensatori che nella versione XE sono errati per una resa perfetta del segnale S-Video.

NOTE: La descrizione della modifica nello STEP 4 e’ errata non e’ Q2 ma Q3 e nello STEP 5 non e’ Q3 ma Q2.

NOTE2: Ovviamente dopo aver assemblato il computer ho notato che il tasto “B” rimaneva incastrato, il pistoncino aveva una crepa e’ bastato sostituirlo e il tasto ora funziona correttamente.

Questo e’ lo stesso articolo del precedente “Pulitore Floppy Disk” con l’unica differenza che questa volta ho utilizzato una meccanica alps.

Ho anche collegato il Led ROSSO limitando il voltaggio con una resistenza da 680 ohm 1W.

Perché buttare via un lettore Floppy Disk Drive della Commodore con la testina interrotta potrebbe diventare un’ottimo sistema per pulire i Floppy Disk.

Come fare ? basta disassemblare tutta la parte che controlla il movimento della testina compresa la testina stessa.

L’alimentatore utilizzato e da 12v con almeno 1A, dovete collegare il positivo al filo MARRONE e il negativo al filo NERO del PCB controllo motore.

Questo computer ha fatto girare la mia BBS “Hidden Power / Nightfall HQ” fino alla chiusura, negli anni precedenti la BBS girava su Amiga 1000 … poi A500 e A2000.

Pubblico anche due foto dell’epoca della mia storica “BBS Room” dove si puo’ vedere questo Amiga 3000 in funzione.

Faccio una breve descrizione di cosa era stato fatto e di cosa ho fatto per questo computer.

• Nel 2001 ho rimosso la batteria e uno dei due Harddisk SCSI che era defunto.
• Nel 2010 ho pulito il case esterno e interno e ho pubblicato le foto sul blog.
• Nel 2018 ho pulito la tastiera.
• Nel 2019 ho pulito accuratamente la motherboard che era ricoperta da uno strato appiccicoso di Nicotina (nella BBS Room si fumava molto)
  • Pulizia del Floppy Drive che oltre ad essere ricoperto dentro e fuori da uno strato appiccicoso di Nicotina c’era anche la Polvere, per sistemarlo ho dovuto disassemblarlo completamente.
  • Ho sotituito le ROM Kickstart 2.04 con la versione 3.1
  • Rimosso l’ultimo Harddisk SCSI defunto.
  • Installato “nuovo” Harddisk Quantum Maverick SCSI da 250Mb
  • Installato WB 3.1 e MagicWB + un paio di Demo e ovviamente Pinball Dreams versione per Harddisk.
  • Sostituito il chip controller SCSI WD33C93A con AM33C93A-16PC.
  • Pulizia del pcb tastiera e sostituzione gommini, piu di 20 tasti risultavano defunti.
  • Rimossa la scheda Zorro BSC / Alfa Data MultiFace Card 3 (multi Seriale) e installata la Village Tronic Ariadne II (Ethernet Card)

Tutto funziona alla perfezione come si puo’ vedere dalle foto.

Ho ricevuto in dono… iniziamo male, ho recuperato, non ci siamo, ho acquistato, molto meglio, questo ennesimo computer della Radio Shack che mancava nella mia collezione.

Il Computer corredato di diversi manuali e Floppy Disk mi e’ stato dato da una persona (grazie Scott) che vive negli Stati Uniti, aveva scritto “QUASI PARI AL NUOVO” ed e’ questa la frase che mi ha attirato.

Il Computer e’ un Radio Shack TRS-80 Model 4 (GATE ARRAY) dunque di ultima produzione con tubo catodico a fosfori verdi.

Il venditore non scherzava dicendo che era “QUASI PARI AL NUOVO” e funzionante, il Computer e’ tenuto molto bene sembra quasi che non sia mai stato utilizzato, lo si puo’ osservare dal Tubo Catodico, dallo stampato del Monitor e Trasformatore di Riga, Tastiera, Case Esterno e interno e dall’alimentatore, il solito ASTEC, che non ha mai scaldato, perfetto.

Inoltre il sigillo di garanzia era intatto.

Siccome non c’era nulla da pulire/riparare ho fatto alcuni aggiornamenti hardware e piccole sostituzioni.

Cosa ho fatto:

• Sostituzione dei 3 condensatori di filtro (RIFA) che di solito rimuovo e difficilmente sostituisco.
• Convertito l’alimentatore ASTEC da 115v a 230v, questa versione dell’alimentatore lo permette perche’ ha la commutazione 115v/230v.
• Sostituita la spina di alimentazione da 115v con una schuko.
• Varie etichette per identificare che il computer e’ stato converito a 220v.
• Installati 64k RAM per portare il Model 4 a 128k (modifica del filo blu inclusa)
• Dual ROM per eseguire il BOOT da FreHD o da Floppy Drive. Ho utilizzato la ROM-el 2364 di Jim Brain che utilizza una Flash ROM (AT49F001AN) ma con pedinatura standard Mask ROM 2364.
• Installato interuttore per lo switch Dual ROM nascosto nelle feritoie areazione senza forare il case.

Tutte le prove sono state fatte utilizzando l’interfaccia FreHD di Ian Mavric.
